PENNY BLACK WINNER: Rosie Scott

027

Children at Spring Stampex eagerly completed the “Brilliant Britain” activities to gain points to take part in the free auction. Attendance was the best for some years, helped by the fact that it was half term in many schools and by the continuing promotion by Stamp Active to “Bring a Child to Stampex” with a prize draw for parents/adults. Hosted by the President of the National Philatelic Society, Mike Thompson brings a professional presentation to the selection of thirty different lots.

After the auction there was a free draw for all the children taking part in the auction for an 1840 Penny Black, donated by Robin Cassell of Mulready Philatelics. The winner was Rosie Scott, Age 8, from Romford

John Davies, Chairman of Stamp Active, commented “The free children’s auction is always very popular. The kids know what they want and bid keenly for the best items.”
