South West Scotland Stamp Festival

The South West Scotland Stamp and Postcard Festival was held recently in Prestwick Community Centre in Prestwick, South Ayrshire. The Kids Corner was well attended and saw far more children than last year, which is encouraging. There were plenty of dealers selling goods, as well as adult and junior displays. The juniors had been told they could come and vote for their favourite display – and they were even allowed to vote for their own display if they wanted to (perhaps this explained the improved attendance!) They all enjoyed judging, and also starting to fill out a Stamp Active album of their choice; having a go at quiz sheets; colouring and activity pages; but mostly they seemed to thoroughly enjoy simply sorting through the trays of stamps and choosing 20 stamps to take home. There were refreshments available, and everyone received a goody bag and a bottle of bubbles to take home – with strict instructions the bubbles were only to be blown outdoors, away from the dealers’ tables!
