Stamp Active again put on a lively Show for the young collectors attending Spring Stampex at the Business Design Centre, London, in February, supported by The Philatelic Traders Society (PTS). The theme of the free activities was “ANIMALS” with a range of activities and points being awarded for use at the free auction or to select gifts of stamp packets or first day covers. All young collectors received an exciting goodie bag. The Show benefitted from the fact that the event was held during half term with children attending on each of the four days.

TOM LAWSON of Sittingbourne was the lucky winner of an 1840 Twopenny Blue, donated by Robin Cassell of Mulready Philatelics for the prize draw at the end of the free children’s auction at this Stampex. This was, once again, well attended and everyone seemed to go away happy with their items, especially Tom!

This was won by ANNIE PARK of Kidderminster, who received an Orangutan First Day Cover, sponsored by Guernsey Post.

A prize draw was also held at the end of Stampex for the adults won brought a young collector to the Stamp Active stand at any time during the Show.

The winners were:

1st Prize:  1840 Penny Black Presentation Wallet, sponsored by Stanley Gibbons, was won by H. Carr of Newport, I.O.W.

2nd Prize:  Royal Mail 2013 Year Book, sponsored by Royal Mail, was won by David Rusholme of London.

3rd Prize:  Subscription to Gibbons Stamp Monthly was won by Ross Hunter of Claygate.

4th Prize:  Subscription to Stamp Magazine, was won by Mark Nottingham of Ramsgate.

5th Prize:  Subscription to Stamp & Coin Mart was won by Charlotte Wilson of Letchworth.

6th Prize:  Guernsey Post 2013 Year Book, sponsored by Guernsey Post, was won by Ryan Reid of Poole.

It is hoped that Stamp Active will be able to repeat this draw at future events.

John Davies, Chairman of Stamp Active, commented “We have, once again, been well supported at Stampex by the PTS and our Dealer Patrons as well as receiving lots of donations from collectors to enable us to create a fun activity area. We hope the new prize draw will be an additional incentive to parents and grandparents to “Bring a Child to Stampex”. Young Collectors have a great time and really enjoy the activities. We just want to see many more come along.“
