StampIt at Scottish Congress

Those children who managed to get to the Scottish Congress in Perth were well entertained. The corner of the hall devoted to youth activities was organised by Sandie Robb, Development Officer, whose “StampIt” programme in Scotland is supported by the Association of Scottish Philatelic Societies, the Scottish Philatelic Traders Association and Stamp Active Network.
A highlight of the Youth Corner were two board games in the “Language of Stamps” series which Sandie has developed to link stamps to language learning in schools. These first games are for Spanish and Japanese, with a French game to be released shortly. All are available for downloading from the ASPS website scottishphilately.co.uk and hard copy board games are available at cost.
Sandie is pleased to report that the games have received the endorsement of the Scottish Association of Language Teachers. The attached photos show members of the Auchterarder Brownies at play.
ASPS also runs a children’s competition for the Alba Salver, which was won this year by Lachlan Philby for his entry “Birds on New Zealand Health Stamps”.  The presentation of the salver and medal was performed by Alan Wishart, this year’s President of Congress.
