Winning Christmas Competition Designs Make History
‘Santa’ design by Molly Robson aged 7, from Horsham, West Sussex will be the 1st Class Christmas Stamp and ‘Singing Angels’ by Rosie Hargreaves aged 10, from Ivybridge, Devon to feature on the 2nd Class Christmas stamp

- The winning designs were chosen from over 240,000 entries received from children aged 4-11 years across the UK in response to the question ‘What does the Christmas season mean to you?’

Royal Mail today revealed the two winning entries in their Christmas Stamp Design Competition. The designs from Molly Robson, aged 7, a pupil at Leechpool Primary School in Horsham, West Sussex, and 10-year old Rosie Hargreaves, who goes to Ermington Primary School in Ivybridge, Devon, were chosen from amongst more than 240,000 entries received.
Molly’s ‘Santa’ design will appear on the 1st Class Christmas Stamp and ‘Singing Angels’ by Rosie will feature on 2nd Class Christmas stamp. Both Molly and Rosie will take part in a prize-giving event at Clarence House on Wednesday 30th October where they will be presented with a framed copy of their winning stamp by HRH The Prince of Wales and Royal Mail Chief Executive Officer, Moya Greene. In addition, to mark their success, a special postmark will feature on mail delivered to addresses nationwide. Each girl will have her name on the postmark for a week in November with the message: “Molly Robson/Rosie Hargreaves – Winner of Royal Mail’s Christmas Stamp Design Competition.” Molly and Rosie’s postmarks will feature on mail delivered from November 5th and November 12threspectively.
Royal Mail Chief Executive Officer, Moya Greene said: “These wonderful images capture perfectly what Christmas means to many people throughout the UK.
“We were overwhelmed that the competition received more than 240,000 entries and Molly and Rosie now follow in the footsteps of some highly acclaimed children’s’ designers and illustrators who have designed Royal Mail’s Christmas Stamps in the past .”
This is only the third time in the company’s near 500-year history that children have designed Christmas stamps.The winners have both won £1000 in vouchers and £1000 for their respective schools.
